Seneca’s Office of Sustainability is hosting a Repair Café on Thursday, March 23 from noon to 2:30 p.m. in the Computer Commons at Seneca@York Campus.

During this event, volunteer fixers, will fix broken items and teach individuals how to do the repair themselves. As part of Seneca’s commitment to become a more sustainable Seneca, this event aims to reduce waste sent to landfills by helping change our society’s throw-away mindset.

How does the Repair Café work?

All are welcome to bring broken items to the event where fixers will work with you one on one and will try their best to repair your items, while walking you through the process.

Individuals volunteering are experts in fixing the following items:

  • Small household appliances (e.g. lamps and toasters)
  • Computers and computer software
  • Electronic devices (e.g. headphones)
  • Clothing and textiles (e.g. jeans and knapsacks)
  • Jewellery
  • Small furniture

On site registration is required for this event. Please bring replacement parts, any manuals and cables, if available. There is no guarantee that your item can be fixed. The time required to repair each item varies. You will be required to stay with the fixer throughout the repair process.

Read the Repair Café rules and regulations for more information.
