RE: Mask requirements for the Winter 2023 Term

With the fall term coming to an end this week, I am writing to update you on our mask requirements for the new year.

Starting in January, given the ongoing community spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses such as the flu and RSV, masks will continue to be required:

  • in instructional spaces such as classrooms, labs, IT labs and studios; faculty who are teaching and students who are presenting may remove their mask when speaking if they are physically distanced
  • and, in other enclosed spaces where physical distancing is not possible such as small meeting or consultation rooms, washrooms, etc.

Wearing masks in areas such as corridors, libraries, computing commons, cafeterias and other more open areas will be your choice.

Masks will continue to be available at Seneca’s entrances.

Although our vaccination policy will end on Dec. 31, 2022, I strongly urge you to keep up-to-date on your vaccinations, including the flu shot. Getting vaccinated remains the best defence against the flu and COVID-19 to help keep our communities healthy and out of hospitals.

Thank you for doing your part in keeping our Seneca community safe.

My best wishes for a great end of term and for a happy holiday season.
