This year marks Seneca's fourth annual innovation Hackathon. It will be the first in-person event since the pandemic and promises to be an exciting two-days of learning, networking and fun.

The event is open to all Seneca students who can invite their friends, alumni, or students from other schools to join with them and choose from various challenge categories developed in collaboration with the competition's sponsors and partners.

This year's challenge categories include Mental Health, Smart Buildings, Smart Business, Data Privacy, Smart Analytics, Sustainable City, and a special challenge set developed in partnership with Wasauksing First Nation and Roche Canada to address Indigenous Healthcare and Affordable Housing Issues.

Prizes range from $5,000 for first place overall, a $2,500 Roche Canada Prize for the best First Nation Healthcare Solution, $2,000 for the runner-up prize and $500 for each challenge set winner. The title sponsor, Thinking North, is also offering one-on-one lunch meetings with investors for the top three finishers and various sponsors are providing paid internship opportunities.

The Hackathon takes place on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 at Newnham Campus. Students from partner schools including York University, PIM University Thailand and Universidad del Rosario in Columbia are also able to enter and compete.

There is no fee to register. Refreshments, lunch, dinner, snacks, entertainment and SWAG are provided.

Registration required before April 29.
