Seneca hosts Prime Minister, Premier for historic announcement on health care

Seneca Polytechnic was honoured to welcome Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Doug Ford to King Campus on Friday, Feb. 9. 

The Prime Minister and the Premier jointly announced the details of a new $3.1-billion agreement between the federal and provincial governments to improve health care for Ontarians.

Prime Minister Trudeau and Premier Ford were joined by dignitaries including Mark Holland, Minister of Health, Ya’ara Saks, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Sylvia Jones, Ontario Minister of Health, Michael Parsa, Ontario Minister of Children, Community and Social Services, Michael Tibollo, Ontario Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions and Seneca Polytechnic representatives led by Board of Governors Chair Ashif Somani and President David Agnew. Also in attendance were King Township Mayor Steve Pellegrini, local MPs and MPPs and health-care stakeholders including Kimberly Moran, Ontario Medical Association CEO and Seneca Board of Governors Vice-Chair. 

In addition to the announcement, the visiting dignitaries met students from the Seneca Nanji Foundation School of Nursing and saw some of their innovative learning spaces. 

Our students did us proud, telling the Prime Minister and the Premier about our proud history of more than 50 years of delivering internationally-recognized nursing programs.
