Join the Office of Reconciliation and Inclusion and the Office of Sustainability, for a three-part event, called “Food for Thought''. These events are being organized in celebration of the #WorldFoodDay, which takes place every year on October 16, and is one of the most celebrated days of the United Nations calendar. #WorldFoodDay highlights food insecurity and how to create a better future for food, people and the Earth.
Part 1: Listen to “The Salmon People” podcast by Sandra Bartlett and The National Observer. Then, join our discussion groups on Teams, hosted by Paula Echeveste. Part 2: Attend “The Salmon People” panel, featuring: award-winning reporter and producer Sandra Bartlett; Indigenous Ecologist & Engagement Specialist, Gary Pritchard; and TRCA Community Outreach Educator, Tisha Tan.
Part 3: Come on an adventure! Join us for “Adventures of the Salmon” to discover the salmon migration along the Humber River Recreational Trail. Learn about different salmon species, their life cycle, and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) efforts in supporting their well-being in GTA waters. Don't forget to watch out for the incredible sight of salmon leaping upstream to spawn while exploring the creek! Lunch is provided, so register today, as spots are limited.
