What they do

Seneca Immigration Specialists

Connect with an immigration specialist and ask questions about the temporary resident documents that are required to study at Seneca Polytechnic including, but not limited to: study permits, visas, work permits and/or Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility.

Seneca Works

The Seneca Works Team mission is to empower students with the necessary skills and strategies for lifelong career success. They are qualified career professionals, establishing and maintaining employer and faculty partnerships, offering comprehensive, accessible services to students and graduates.

Seneca Academic Pathways

The Academic Pathways team provides a number of services to help students to continue their education at Seneca or other institutions, including research and application assistance, information sessions, advisement appointments and events.

SSF (Seneca Student Federation)

The mandate of the SSF Inc. is "to provide services & activities that benefit and meet the needs of Seneca students in a fiscally responsible manner within a learning environment". It is the goal of every Student Council (there are Councils at King, Newnham, Seneca@York and SIA) to offer a wide variety of programs and services to students and to represent the needs and concerns of students to the College's administration.

COSTI

Meeting the needs of a diverse society since 1952, COSTI Immigrant Services is a community-based multicultural agency providing employment, educational, settlement and social services to all immigrant communities, new Canadians, and individuals in need of assistance.

North York Community House

North York Community House (NYCH) is a non-profit organization that plays a vital role in the northwest Toronto community. With over 30 years of impact, NYCH focuses on assisting newcomers to Canada in their settlement journey, helping them thrive, and actively engage in their neighborhoods. Here’s what NYCH offers:

  1. Settlement Services: NYCH provides support to newcomers as they navigate complex systems such as health care, education, immigration, and housing. These services are essential for making newcomers feel at home in their new country.

  2. Community Connections: NYCH’s Community Connections programs cover a broad range of topics and activities, including cultural, social, mental, and physical well-being. These programs help residents connect with their community and build meaningful relationships.

  3. Community Development: NYCH encourages and supports community members to engage where it matters most. From individual growth to systemic change, participants learn how to make a positive impact in their neighborhoods.

Service Canada provides Canadians with a single point of access to a wide range of government services and benefits, including Social Insurance Numbers, Passports, and International Benefits.

Markham Public Library

Markham Public Library offers a wealth of resources to help newcomers feel at home. Whether you’re settling into the community, seeking employment, or improving your language skills, the library has you covered! Here are some highlights:

  1. Newcomer Services: Explore free programs, community services, and online resources tailored for newcomers. From language assessment to employment support, you’ll find valuable assistance.

  2. Newcomer Guides: Access helpful guides available in English, Chinese, and other languages. These guides provide essential information for those new to the area.

  3. Online Resources: Dive into a variety of online resources. Whether you want to learn English, prepare for Canadian citizenship, or stay connected with news from your home country, the library has it all.

York Region Transit (YRT) 

York Region Transit (YRT) is the public transit operator  operating a comprehensive network of transit services across all nine municipalities in York Region, Ontario Canada. These services include:

  1. Local Routes: YRT operates 65 full-time, rush hour, and limited routes that connect residents within York Region and provide convenient transportation options.
  2. Viva Bus Rapid Transit: YRT operates six Viva bus rapid transit routes, providing efficient and frequent service along key corridors.
  3. Mobility On-Request: YRT’s on-request service includes both paratransit and general on-demand transit options.
  4. Trip Planning and Real-Time Arrivals: Use YRT’s INFO-Web Trip Planner to plan your journey, check upcoming departure times, and track vehicle positions in real time.

Centre for Immigration and Community Services

The Centre for Immigration and Community Services (CICS) is committed to providing clients with equal access to services that meet their individual needs. Their vision is to fully integrate newcomers who participate in and contribute to all spheres of Canadian Society and to empower newcomers in settling and integrating as contributing members of Canadian society through diverse, professional, and innovative services.

Volunteer Connect - York Region 

Volunteer Connect is a platform that fosters community engagement by connecting volunteers with organizations in York Region, Canada. Through innovative programs, Volunteer Connect inspires, informs, and facilitates meaningful volunteer opportunities. Their online platform bridges people of all ages to valuable volunteer roles, contributing to social capital in the communities they serve. To date, they’ve connected volunteers to over 400 non-profit members across Markham, Richmond Hill, and Vaughan

City of Markham Volunteer Services

The City of Markham is actively seeking passionate individuals who want to contribute their talents, skills, and experiences to enhance the community. By volunteering, you can make a positive impact and help make Markham an even better place to live, work, and play.
