Apple macOS High Sierra 10.13 and later introduced a new security feature that requires user approval before loading newly- installed third-party kernel extensions {KEXTs). This requirements enforces that only kernel extensions approved by the user will be loaded on a system. When a request is made to load a KEXT that the user has not yet approved, the load request is denied and macOS presents the alert with a System Extension Blocked message.

Your GlobalProtect Agent is stuck at the Connecting stage.

You might see the message below.

You may also see a message indicating "System Extension Blocked"

Enable Palo Alto Networks as a trusted developer.

    1. From your Mac dock, launch System Preferences
    2. Open the Security & Privacy preferences
    3. Click the lock icon on the bottom left of the window to make changes and modify preferences
    4. When prompted, enter your Mac username and password, then click Unlock
    5. Click Allow next to the message "System software from developer Palo Alto Networks" was blocked from loading."
    6. If you are still unable to connect after following these steps, please restart your computer and try to connect again

    Issues persists

    • If after allowing, you still see the issue, may need to:
      1. Uninstall the VPN client to remove the kernel extension, and/or
      2. Reinstall the client again and follow the procedures above
