Every year, Chatelaine releases its list of Doris Anderson Award recipients, Canadians who make the world a better place and demonstrate the same go-get-‘em grit and ingenuity as their most iconic editor-in-chief, Doris Anderson.

Birgit Uwaila Umaigba, a graduate of Seneca's former collaborative nursing degree program with York University, is this year’s top recipient of the annual award for elevating the voices of Canadian nurses on the front lines of pandemic care. During the pandemic, Ms. Umaigba raised awareness of the mental health struggles nurses faced and more.

We are #SenecaProud of Ms. Umaigba.
