Maamwi miinwaa gdaa’aami celebrations | MyNews | Seneca Students

Throughout June, Seneca will celebrate Maamwi miinwaa gdaa’aami — an Indigenous term for we are together again — to recognize National Indigenous History Month and Pride Month.

Seneca will be honouring the history, diversity and resilience of the Indigenous and 2SLGBTQ+ communities with a variety of events including:

• Sunrise Ceremony of Maamwi miinwaa gdaa’aami on Thursday, June 2 at 5:30 a.m.
• Kick off of Maamwi miinwaa gdaa’aami on Friday, June 3 at 1 p.m.
• 2SLGBTQ+ Book Club Event on Wednesday, June 15 at 7 p.m.
• 2SLGBTQ+ Meet & Greet on Thursday, June 16 at 5:30 p.m.
• Bingo Break on Friday, June 17 at 2 p.m.
• Career Resiliency: Affirming Perspectives on Monday, June 20 at noon
• National Indigenous Peoples Day on Tuesday, June 21 at 9 a.m.
• Drag Show on Wednesday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m.
• Beadmaking Workshop on Thursday, June 23 at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
• Art Yourself: A Self-Expression Queer Art Night on Wednesday, June 29 at 6:30 p.m.
• Closing Ceremony of Maamwi miinwaa gdaa’aami on Thursday, June 30 at 1 p.m.

In addition, weekly virtual gatherings will take place including:

• Indigenous Teachings on Tuesdays starting on June 7
  • Indigenous Teachings — gender diversity and two-spirit identity 
  • Indigenous Teachings — academia and ceremony 
  • Indigenous Teachings — water
